What is Healthspan & Why Should I Care?
In general, to be healthy is to be free from disease. To have life is to be adaptable to change. Every day we make decisions that either increase or decrease our overall health. We spend roughly the last 15+ years of life outside of our healthspan because chronic disease begins to take over our livelihood. What are some ways we can MAXIMIZE our HEALTHSPAN?
Eat Better Foods
Improving your diet is a great way to start expanding your healthspan. Try including more fruits & veggies in your diet or some of these "superfoods": berries, fish, leafy greens, nuts, olive oil, yogurt & tomatoes. Chicken is a great source of protein, too!
Believe it or not, our body is meant to move. Yet way to many of us are stuck at home or at a desk for too many hours throughout the day. Try getting up from the desk every hour for 5 minutes. Take a lap, grab a coffee, or just get up to stretch out. Another easy thing to do is schedule a 30 minute walk every day. Yes, schedule it. The "I don't have time" excuse doesn't work if you make it a part of your daily schedule!
