Monday Motivation: Drink More Water!

Ask yourself this question: 'How much water do I drink each day?' Now let's find out why you should drink more!

Water consumption is important for our body to function at its best. Every cell in our body needs water, and it makes sense: humans are made up of 60% water! So what are the benefits? Water can help reduce fatigue, decrease headaches, relieve constipation, & even help with weight loss. Read the article below to learn more!

So how much water should we actually be drinking? Well according to mayoclinic.org, "An adequate daily fluid intake (of water) is between 90-120 fluid ounces per day." Keep in mind this is just a baseline and should not be considered "prescriptive" for everyone. For example, if you exercise, you will need to make up for the water that was lost and hydrate accordingly.

So what is Dr. Vig's Recommendation?

I personally love drinking water! However, I know several people that "forget" or just don't like the taste. (Does water have a taste though? That's a debate for another time.)

I recommend drinking half your body weight in fluid ounces as a minimum. If you can, strive for the gallon of water per day. It might seem impossible but make drinking water "fun". Try putting chopped up fruit in your glass or jug. Maybe schedule time every hour to go fill up your water and get up and stretch. Drinking water has so many benefits and your body will thank you for it later!
