Monday Motivation: Health is Wealth

How do we quantify health? Is it based on nutrition? Exercise? How much we weigh? I would argue it's a combination of all of these. In fact, it's difficult to work on one of these without affecting another.

However, health is still relative. Let's compare to something more absolute: money. We all wish we had more money, right? A common way to increase personal wealth is to invest. Although today's stock market seems highly variable, over time it does prove to a way to improve long term wealth.

Let's say someone gave you $100 and guaranteed you that 10 years later it would turn into $150 with one exception: you can't spend a single dollar of that investment for the entire 10 years. Sounds great, right? This is the idea behind investing our money. And millions of people apply this principle to their retirement plans, long-term investing, etc. But how many people are this focused on their health, too? What if we applied this concept to our personal health?

Example: someone guarantees you that over the course of 1 year you will lose 10 lbs. The only exception is this: you have to stay diligent to a nutritional diet, exercise every day, and get adequate sleep for your recovery. Doesn't this sound great?!? Remember, you are guaranteed to lose 10 lbs.

It's easy for us to get excited about money because money allows us freedoms to do the things we love. But I think we need to be equally excited about our health. If you are reading this blog, it means you are gifted with this thing called life. We all want to live as long as possible, right? Well let's also spend that time increasing our healthspan so that we can enjoy the day we hit retirement and spend all that money we invested.

Long story short: start investing in yourself! Have any questions? Learn how Healthspan Chiropractic can help you adjust the way you live.
